Fan Reaction Mix - Nothing but Praise for Rob Davis

There has been nothing but praise on fan sites for the way Packers long snapper Rob Davis played the game and acted off of the field. Rob Davis retired from the Packers after 12 seasons in the NFL and stay in the Packer organization as director of player development.

Select Fan Reaction:

1. Rob Davis...you are a class act. Take care of our youngsters!

2. A true class act. He's been a great player (remember all those punts when he snapped the ball and then hustled down field to lower the boom on the return man?) and I'm sure will be a great help to players in his new role. Thanks for all you've done, Rob. You truly personify a Green Bay Packer.

3. If he's as steady a person as he was a long snapper, Packers players should be fine in their transitions to post-NFL life.
I hope the next long snapper is totally anonymous (until Packer fans gradually notice he's been doing a great job for a decade).

4. He was a great leader on the team. This is the part I worry about. His play was starting to diminish the past couple of years. So I think Gafford should fill in fine. But his leadership on the field and in the locker room will be missed.

5. Anyway, if you're going to admire anything about this guy, it's how he had the easiest job in pro sports for 12+ years yet was smart enough to save and invest his money and is now in pretty good financial shape according to some of the articles I've read. He'll be an excellent example to the current players out there throwing money away on Bentley's and Cristal (although a little Cristal every now and then isn't neccesarily a bad thing.
