Brett Farve apparantly has been unhappy with his decision to retire after the 2007 season almost as he tearfully anounced his retirement. It is being reported that the Packers quarterback had a deal to return to the Packers in March however at the time decided to stay retired again. At that point the Packers decided to move on with Aaron Rodgers training to be the starting quarterback in 08. Farve has now decided that he for sure would like to unretire and since the Packers have informed him that they have moved on, the fixture of the Packers and future Hall of Famer has asked for his release from the Green Bay Packers. Farve asked for his release in the form of a letter from his agent to Packers management. The Packers have issued a press release saying that they will not release Brett Farve and that they will do what is right for the Packers.
Potential teams in need of a quarterback in 2008 include the division rival Bears and Vikings and the Packers would likely not release Farve to ensure that they could trade him to a team hopefully in the AFC if he does go through with playing again. A situation similar to the 49ers trading Joe Montana to the AFC Chiefs.
