‘You play to win a Super Bowl!’ That’s a little paraphrase of the famous Herm Edwards quote, but it’s also the absolute truth. When the opportunity to win a Super Bowl comes along a team simply cannot pass up that opportunity.
That’s why, nine games into the season, it was still the wrong choice for the Packers to let Brett Favre go and go with Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has proven that he’s a smart, competent quarterback with a very bright future. But in choosing Rodgers the Packers essentially conceded any chance they have of winning the Super Bowl this season.
