Watch out for Lumpkin

By: Zack Garhart

Flash in the pan tailbacks have been running through Green Bay far too often. Ted Thompson has to be growing tired of the lack of production from his running game in the last five seasons. Ryan Grant is filling the role this season, but considering the inconsistency the Pack has shown recently, hope is still left for Brandon Jackson and DeShawn Wynn. Jackson and Wynn were both rookies last season, showing a flash of potential by incorporating a blend of power into the Packer’s running scheme. Although, don’t count out Kregg Lumpkin, a second year back out of Georgia. Expect him to put up a strong fight for the vacant backup tailback spot. Despite his measly 41 total all purpose yards last season, Lumpkin has impressed me with his skills once he has the ball in his hands.

Despite the Packers questions in the backfield, the wide outs will truly provide the most threat for defenses this season. After opening up the playbook and finding a spread offense that fits, Mike McCarthy has found the elements to provide some excitement in the offense. The Packers return this season stacked with young receivers that are bursting with potential and waiting on a chance to showcase their ability. Lead by veteran Donald Driver, the green and gold aerial assault will require stronger game plans from opposing defenses. Even Greg Jennings has stepped up his game by committing himself to workout with Larry Fitzgerald. Now that Rodgers has been given a year to step out of the high heels Favre left in Green Bay, the offense will be in full swing.
