Mike McCarthy vs Mike Sherman vs Mike Holmgren

Mike McCarthy is 76 games into his tenure as a Packers coach and has a record of 45-31.  Mike Sherman was 48-28 in his first 76 games and Mike Holmgren went 46 and 30 in his first 76. Lets hope McCarthy follows the path of Holmgren as his 76th game happened in his fifth season which was the Super Bowl winning one. In that season Holmgren was 4-1 in that season, which means McCarthy has coached four more playoff games than Holmgren had by that point. For those of you wondering he coached 2 more than Sherman had by his fifth season.

Mike Holmgren took over a very average at best team, Sherman took over a slightly above average team with a prime time QB and McCarthy took over a team with an above average QB and many holes in talent at other areas. Why compare the three coaches at 76 games, nothing magic about it we are just starting to get that Super Bowl feeling. The Cowboys looked much better against a team other than the Packers. The Packers have premier playmakers on defense in Mathews and Woodson which always helps you get a ring. In addition the Packers have a QB who can do damage with still an assortment of receiving threats despite loosing Finley which hurt big time. Of course we still lack a true running game and our special teams returns haven't been Super but you have to like your chances with multiple prime time playmakers on both sides of the ball.
